Oakwood Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service

Oakwood provides residential rehabilitation support for 13 adults with Acquired Brain Injuries in Offerton, Stockport. There are 8 en-suite bedrooms and a further 5 self-contained flats supporting individuals to step down to more independent and safe community living.

Oakwood offers bespoke multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programmes providing daily, structured support including speech and language therapy, clinical neuro-psychology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and therapy coordinator(s).

We specialise in providing therapeutic support assessments using specialist neuro rehabilitation assessment tools to determine goals, interventions and outcome measures.

Programmes are designed to support individuals to maximise their potential using assistive technology and through developing communication to aid in forming strategies to minimise and overcome the complex difficulties faced by those with an Acquired Brain Injury.

With a focus on community engagement and developing daily living skills, we make use of external services for hydrotherapy and adapted treadmill sessions, as appropriate following assessment. We also provide support to family members to understand brain injury and the difficulties people can face after injury.

All programmes promote choice and aim to support individuals to develop skills and strategies to reduce anxiety and frustration as well as have meaningful engagement in the local community to aid in their recovery.
