Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA)


The IMCA service works to help individuals aged 16 over, who have been assessed as lacking the capacity to make some important decisions, about serious medial treatment and changes in their accommodation. IMCA’s may also be instructed in adult protection cases and some care reviews. Advocates work to help individuals secure their rights and represent their views and wishes.

 Our Advocacy services are free, confidential and independent. Our services are provided following a referral from a health or social worker professional, if deemed necessary, following an assessment of your needs. Cheshire Advocacy Hub provides the following advocacy services: 

• Independent Mental Health Advocacy 
• Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy, DOLS & paid RPR 
• Independent Advocacy under the Care Act 2014
