Crewe Engineering & Design University Technical College (UTC)

What is a UTC?

University Technical Colleges (UTCs) are a type of non-selective school, funded by the Government, designed to enroll students aged 14 - 18, and free to attend. A UTC has a university and employers as partners, and is supported by the local council.

UTCs offer technically oriented courses, combining National Curriculum requirements with technical and vocational elements; they also teach business skills and the use of ICT. They offer clear routes into Higher Education or further learning in work. The study day is longer than in a typical school and is more in line with a business working day.

Our vision

Crewe Engineering & Design UTC aims to be the engineering and design education provider of choice. Through the commitment of the employers, the University and the UTC working in partnership, students will be exposed to a unique learning experience with the full scale of engineering and design disciplines and opportunities.

Laying the foundations in engineering and design, our UTC is there every step of the way for students through the key stages of their education and helps to provide a clear onward learning path either through further education, university or the workplace.
