Nantwich Fire Station Cadets

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service run a Fire Cadet Scheme for young people between the ages of 12 and 18. The majority of our units are based on your local community fire station. We will train you in basic firefighting skills using pumps, hoses and ladders. Training in first aid and casualty handling and road accident rescue techniques is also provided.

Team building activities, sports and games also form part of a cadet life. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, camps and social events are available. Fire cadets are also expected to participate in community events for public safety education and charitable fundraising.

Fire cadets operate a role based structure so promotion is available for those cadets who demonstrate leadership qualities and a high level of personal commitment. Uniforms and personal equipment are issued free of charge. You will be expected to care for your issue of uniform and return it when you leave. Cadet units meet one evening per week for 2 to 3 hours. You are expected to attend on a regular basis and to wear your issue uniform smartly as you are a member of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

There is no cost for enrolling as a cadet and your uniform and equipment is provided by the service. Your unit may have a small weekly subscription fee to pay for refreshments on training nights.

Personal Development  - The cadets scheme is designed to promote self-improvement and development. This is achieved by encouraging cadets to engage in challenging activities and working with others in team events. Cadet activities include the opportunity to join cadets from all over the UK at international service camps.
